RYDER, William. Private TR/4/80369, 53rd Welsh Regiment died 12th November 1918 aged 18. He was the son of Joseph and Eliza of 10, Green Street, Macclesfield. He is at rest in Holy Trinity Churchyard, Hurdsfield near Macclesfield, Cheshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted on the 22nd October 1918 at Chester aged 18 years and 1 month. He lived with his parents at 10, Green Street, Macclesfield and by occupation he was employed as a cotton boubler. He operated a machine which twisted fibre. He was sent Kinmel Park Army Training Camp, Boddelwyddan, North Wales for his training when he fell ill. He was admitted into Kinmel Park Camp Military hospital on the 7th November 1918 suffering from Broncho Pneumonia. He died at 02-15am on the 12th November 1918 of heart failure. He and a brother, Arthur who was on active service.
