William Pounder HOOPER. Private 266967, 2/7th Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). Born 1894 to Joseph and Dinah Hooper. and grandson of William and Ann Pounder. 1901 residing with his grandparents William and Ann Pounder at 350 Nottingham Road, trading as the White Lion Inn,Tavern, Ilkeston. 1911 residing with aunt Maud and Uncle Roger Pounder at the White Lion Inn, Ilkeston. Occupation, lace worker. At the time of his death his mother was residing at 4, Havelock Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He was presumed killed in France 21 March 1918 aged 24 years. His mother was granted a gratuity 17 May 1923.
Commemorated on his grandparents’ memorial in Park Cemetery, Ilkeston, Derbyshire and Arras Memorial, France.
