William MacCUTCHEON

Extended Description
MacCUTCHEON William. Leading Carpenter Crew, M/3198 Royal Navy, on HMS Russell. Born 10 February 1891 at Dundee Forfar to William and Kate MacCutcheon, of 136 Archway Road, Highgate, London. Enlisted 3 July 1911 in HMS Pembroke I occupation prior to enlistment, joiner. Died in Royal Naval Hospital Bighi, Malta 11th May 1916 aged 23 years from burns sustained when HMS Russell was sunk by a mine. Commended for gallantry for working in most dangerous surrounding saving life etc on the occasion of the loss of HMS Russell.

At rest in Plot C Grave 321 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
