Extended Description
William Johnston BORTHWICK. Able Seaman J40070 on HMS Malaya, aged 28 years. Born 4th January 1899 at Galashield, Selkirk to Thomas and Mary Stewart Borthwick nee Johnstone enlisted 21st April 1915 on HMS Ganges occupation prior to enlistment, apprentice telephone linesman. Died 16th February 1927 aged 28 years of a fracture skull on board his ship in Malta.
