William John STERRETT. (Birth surname Sterret) Sergeant, Home Guard. formerly Private 15974, Royal Irish Rifles. Born 14 May 1886 at Ardery’s Lane, Banbridge County Down to James and Mary Anne Sterrett, nee Allen. Husband of Kathleen Frances Sterrett, of 1 Seascape Parade. 1921 he was residing with his family at 15 Major Street, Belfast. Died 5 May 1941 aged 54 at 10 Seascape Parade, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
At rest with his wife in Plot B3. Grave 465, Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Northern Ireland.

Army record notes -
William John Sterrett Rifleman 15974 10th Royal Irish Rifles. Enlisted 14 September 1914 aged 29 years and 5 months. 6 June 1915 he married Katherine Frances Evans at St Marks Church, Dundela, County Down, Ireland. He was aged 30 and Private in Royal Irish Rifles and resided at 174 Connswater Belfast. His next of kin was his wife who resided at 275 Beersbridge Road, Belfast. He embarked for France 2 October 1915 to 14 February 1919. While in France he had periods of leave etc in England. April 1918, he received a gunshot wound, left arm whilst at the front. He would have been treated in a Field Hospital and then Casualty Clearing Centre. He was then transferred on the 6 April 1918 to a hospital at Trouville for further medical treatment. 8 April 1918 he was transferred to the Convalescent Department in the hospital at Trouville.
He was demobilized at Dublin to Class Z, 5 March 1919 with a disability, haemorrhoids.
