Private 18199, William James RIDGE TR5/8175 3rd Training Reserve Battalion, formerly 10th North Staffordshire Regiment died 28th March 1917. Son of James and Mary Jane and husband of Selina nee Amison of 72 Cheadle Road, Forsbrook, Staffordshire. He was married at Stoke Registry Office 9 July 1908. They had two children, Ethel, born 11 December 1911 and James Arthur born 2 May 1915. At rest in Forsbrook Cemetery, Staffordshire
Some notes from what remains of his army records.
He joined the North Staffordshire Regiment at Lichfield on the 9 July 1915 aged 29 years, occupation labourer. On the 10 November 1915 he was posted to the 11th Battalion. On the 18 August 1916 he was admitted into Lichfield Military Hospital suffering from syncope. Discharged on the 22 August 1916. 1st September 1916 he was transferred to the 3rd Training Reserve Battalion, later transferred to the Army Reserve Class W for civil employment He died after being discharged 28 March 1917.
