Only son of Walter and Ellen Gascoigne
Details of what remains of his Army records -
Joined up 1 April 1915 aged 24 and 60 days and occupation labourer. He resided at 9 Claremount Place, Claremount Bank, Shrewsbury. Transferred 10 July 1915 to Royal West Surrey Regiment. The family later resided at 23b Swan Hill, Shrewsbury. At one stage he was injured and transferred to Red Cross Hospital (34VAD) Southend on Sea, with a shrapnel wound, date unknown.
