Valiant Jetty

Not sure if this should be under 'equipment' or 'places', but I'll upload it here.

On 26 June 2006 the first concrete was poured signifying the start of construction of the Royal Navys new 150m floating jetty.
Named the Valiant jetty after the first UK designed and built nuclear powered submarine, HMS Valiant, which was based at Faslane during the sixties and seventies, the jetty will berth submarines like the Swiftsure and new Astute class boats at HM Naval Base Clyde.
The jetty will be constructed by AMEC, the projects Prime Contractor, at Clydeports Inchgreen site in Greenock.
Once complete the 200 metre long, 44,000 tonne finger jetty, which will provide six alongside berths and support facilities for the nuclear powered submarines, will be towed to Faslane where it will be married to the shore works in the summer of 2008.
As well as being the most up-to-date alongside operational support facilities anywhere in the UK, the new jetty has been designed to provide forty years service throughout the life of the next generation Astute submarines, due to arrive at the base in 2008.
