The U534 was a German U boat and was sunk in May 1945 off the coast of Denmark by a Royal Airforce coastal command Liberator bomber from 86 Squadron based at Tain in Scotland. U534 was found and raised in August 1993, she now rests at The Historic Warship Museum in Birkenhead, England where this picture was taken 14/03/04
The damage at the rear of the submarine has most likely been caused by the depth charges after they had hit the decks and rolled off. The depth charges dropped from the Liberator were set to explode at a depth of ten feet.
