Thomas Valentine Plaisted McCAMMON, Lieutenant Colonel, 5th Royal Irish Rifles. (The Royal South Downs) who died on the 28th April 1917 at 20, General Hospital, Camiers, France of wounds received in action at Monchy
This tablet is erected by his brother Officers, past and present of the Royal South Downs as a token of their love and esteem for a gallant soldier and staunch friend.
(The CWGC have the following) Lieutenant Colonel, 5th Royal Irish Rifles attached to the 2nd Hampshire Regiment died 28th April 1917. He was the son of Col. Thos McCammon (5th Royal Irish Rifles) and he was the husband of C. A. McCammon, of Helen\'s Bay, Co. Down. Native of Holywood, Co. Down. Served in the South African War. He is commemorated on a tablet in Down Cathedral, Downpatrick, Northern Ireland and he is at rest in Etaples Militay Cemetery, France.
