General, Thomas THOMPSON. Born 8th August 1817 in Wexford, Ireland, retired, late of the Madras Staff Corps, died 24th March 1899 aged 81. At rest in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Malta.

The undermentioned Officers, having completed the qualifying service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, to be Colonels, under the provisions of the Royal Warrant of 3d February 1866
Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Thompson, Madras Staff-Corps. Dated 17th January 1867 and others.

2nd Lieutenant or Ensigns, 17th January 1836. Lieutenant 4th March 1838. Captain, 22 December 1845. Major, 15th October 1857. Lieutenant Colonel, 17th January 1862, Colonel, 17th January 1867. Major General, 8th February 1878 and Lieutenant General, 1st July 1881.
