The memorial reads, 8th Manchester Regiment, killed in the Dardanelles 8th June 1915 aged 18
The CWGC and SDGW have him, died 31st May 1915, aged 18. The SDGW have him, died of wounds at Gallipoli on the 31st May 1915. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth of Moss Side, Hulme, Manchester and brother of Charles who also fell. He was born at Longsight, Manchester. He is commemorated on a family memorial at Manchester Southern Cemetery and buried at Lancashire Landing Cemetery, Turkey including Gallipoli
