Extended Description
Private 24205388 Thomas John FLETCHER, 4th County Fermanagh Battalion.
He was shot dead by the PIRA the 1st March 1972 while off duty aged 43, ten hours prior to the death of Sergeant Henry Dynes Dickson.
He resided at Frevagh, near Garrison, County Fermanagh was shot dead the 1st March 1972 Threats were made by the PIRA to five UDR men to quit their farm, all accept Thomas left their farms.
At rest Church of Ireland Churchyard, Garrison Cemetery, Garrison, County Fermanagh, grave 592.
He is commemorated on a Tree memorial plaque at the UDR Memorial, Ulster Ash Grove, National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire, England

1st March 1972, UDR man killed.
He lived near Garrison County Fermanagh and was taken hostage by four gunmen. His home was searched and two weapons, a pistol and a shotgun were found. He and his wife were the questioned as to the whereabouts of his SLR (Self Loading Rifle). He told the gunmen that it was at his depot in Enniskillen. On being further questioned as to what he was doing in the barn the previous night and after the man’s wife was threatened that the rifle parts were found. He was then walked 150 yards to the border and shot dead. Twenty-two shote were fired at him striking him six times, in the head and neck. He was found dead by his wife.

He was abducted as he was driving away from his farmhouse to work. He was frog-marched into a field by Republican gunmen and executed. His wife witnessed his murder.
He resided at Frevagh, near Garrison, County Fermanagh was shot dead the 1st March 1972 while off duty aged 43.
