In the autumn of 1946, in accordance with the Allied Control Council Law No. 10, twelve war crimes trials were held in Nuremberg, Germany. The defendants were charged with war crimes and offenses against international penal law. The trials included the participation not only of the accused and the victims who came as witnesses, but the judges, prosecutors, interrogators, translators, military personnel, security forces, journalists, and photographers.
