BAILEY Frank, Private 200358, 1/4th Kings Shropshire Light Infantry killed in action 31st October 1917. Native of Wistanswich, near Stoke on Tern. His aunt Mrs Elizabeth Worrall was granted a war gratuity on the 28th June 1918, revised 17th November 1919. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium
BAKER William Henry, Private 9715, 2nd Kings Shropshire Light Infantry died of wounds at Salonika 5th January 1917 age 24 Native of Sambrook, Shropshire and resident at Wistanswick, near Stoke on Tern. Son of Henry and Annie Baker, of 2, Byron Cottage, Waitanswick, Market Drayton. Buried at Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece

EDWARDS Albert, Private 20626, St Helens Pioneers, 11th South Lancashire Regiment killed in action 1st July 1916 in France. James Daniel Hammond was granted a war gratuity on the 12th December 1916 revised 8th September 1919. Native of Stoke Park At rest in Cerisy-Gailly Military Cemetery, Somme, France.
Some notes from what remains of his army records
He joined up at St Helens, Lancashire aged 27 and 11 months and was posted to St Helens Pioneers, 11th South Lancashire Regiment. He was living at Stoke Park, Shropshire with hsi parents, Robert and Ann of Yew Tree Cottages, Stoke Park, Shropshire. His occupation was a teaser. possible working in a wool mill. On the 6th November 1915 he embarked from Southampton for France where he fell with many thousands on the 1st June 1916. He was in France for 239 days. His personal property went to Miss Irene Doris Hammond c/o James Daniel Hammond of 171 Rivington Road, St Helens, Lancashire. His brother George Henry also fell in action.

EDWARDS George Henry, Rifleman Z/1826, 1st Rifle Brigade, died of wounds 3rd March 1917. Native of Market Drayton, resident of Edgbaston, Warwickshire. Son of Robert and Ann of Yew Tree Cottages, Market Drayton, Shropshire and brother of Albert who fell on the day of the battle of the Somme. In 1911 he was living with his wife Elsie Florence and his two sons at 22 Alexandria Street, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Buried at Bray Military Cemetery, Somme France.

He joined up on the 15th September 1914 aged 26 and 310 days. occupation baker and confectioner On the 9th February 1915 he was posted to France to join the 4 battalion. On the 15th February 1915 he was posted to the front from Infantry Base Depot. Whilst at the front he was insolent to and n.c.o and he received 14 days Field Punishment No 1. On the 18th February 1917 he was shot and wounded in the chest and thigh at the front. He was treated the same day at 48 Casualty Clearing Station where he died of his wounds on the 3rd March 1917.
He was married on the 30th May 1908 at St Silas Church Lozells , Birmingham to Miss Elsie Florence Beatrice Hollins. They had the following children. William Stanfield Edwards born 10th September 1908, George Ernest 26th September 1909, Elsie May 16th January 1911, Hubert Leslie 23rd March 1913, Harold, 13th March 1914 Alfred J born 31st August 1915.
