My wife's Grandfather was a flight engineer on Stirling's of No.149 Sqn. He only flow 9 operational sorties before they were shot down and killed. He was only 23, the oldest member of the crew and had been on the squadron for just 2 months. R.I.P Granddad Atkinson.
