Extended Description
Sidney GOWER. West Yorkshire Regiment. (Leeds Pals) Died 1st July 1916. The Somme. Love and Honour. Private 15/1333, 15th West Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 1st July 1916 Born in Woodhouse, Leeds, enlisted at Colsterdale, Yorkshire. In 1911 he was living with his parents Joseph Sherard and Louis and his siblings at 19 Hawes Place, Woodhouse, Leeds. He was employed as an office clerk. His father was granted a war gratuity on the 23rd June 1917, revised on the 17th November 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
This poppy cross memorial was in Lady Chapel, St Peter, Leeds.
