- Sidney Arthur UPCHURCH. Able Seaman J1916, Royal Navy on HMS Inflexible. Born 1st June 1892 at Stevenage, Hertfordshire to George Edward and Ida Annie Upchurch nee Ansell. In 1901 he was living with his parents and siblings Green Street, Stevenage. Enlisted 7th May 1908, occupation prior to enlistment, errand boy. 1911 Census shows him as Ordinary Seaman aged 18 on HMS Indomible lying in HM Dockyard at Chatham. Died 23rd January 1913 aged 20 years of enteric fever in a Malta hospital. His father was informed of his death 23rd January 1913.
At rest in Plot B Grave 219, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta. Unmarked burial.
