Sholto Douglas STITT. 1904 - 1981. Gunner, Light Battery, Federated Malay States Volunteer Force. He was a Far East Prisoner of War Sergeant 4939 Malayan Volunteer Force. Captured 15th February 1942 Husband of Lorna Frances nee Grey and father to Ian Sholto Douglas, and Diana Margaret Francis. Sholto Douglas was born 3rd March 1904 and was a Chartered Accountant by profession, Lorna Frances born 3rd April 1911 and Diana Margaret Francis born 7th August 1947. From 27th June 1927 to about 11th April 1960 he and his family made numerous sailings to Penang, Malaysia. With many addresses in Scotland, Park House, Kirn, Argyllshire, Scotland. 95 McCulloch Street, Pollokshields, Glasgow, 5 Princess Street, Pollokshields, Glasgow and 64 Terregles Avenue, Glasgow. On the 19th January 1947 aged 47 Sholto left Southhampton for Singapore. On the 18th February 1947 his wife and son Ian Sholto Douglas aged 3, followed him to Singapore. On the 15th February 1954 Ian Sholto Douglas aged 13, student returned with his father from Penang to 95 McCulloch Street, Pollokshields.

This memorial plaque is at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire
