KMS Scharnhorst in 1939 prior to her bow being rebuilt with the "Atlantic Bow" after trials showed serious issues with seas breaking over her bow and disrupting forward turret operations.
The three anchors were also reduced to two and moved up onto the deck as they were generating so much spray that range finding fuctions were affected.
