Robert Ririe MITCHELL. Engineer Lieutenant, Royal Naval Reserve on SS Laurentic. (On 25 November 1914 she was commissioned as HMS Laurentic, with the pennant number M 71)
Born 1885 at Banff Scotland to William and Jane Mitchell, nee Ririe. 1891 residing with his siblings and parents at 67 Cotton Street, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. 1901 with his siblings at parents at 50 Urquhart Road, Aberdeen, occupation aged 15, insurance clerk. At the time of his death his mother was residing at 3 Church Avenue, Holywood. Died 25 January 1917 aged 31 as the result of an explosion when his ship hit a mine after leaving Lough Swilly, County Donegall.
