Robert John (Bob) Turner

Extended Description
Robert John (Bob) TURNER. Private 24114139
Devon and Dorset Regiment previously 1st Bn. Gloucestershire Regiment 28th/61st of foot.
Born 22 January 1943 died in Osnabruck, Germany 22 January 1978.

I met Bob when I joined A Coy, Glosters in Berlin 1967. In 1971 we were stationed at Heathfield Camp Honiton, Devon. Our regiment was going to be amalgamated with the Hampshire Regiment. The C.O. informed us that if any one wanted to join the Devon and Dorset Regiment in Malta they could do so. Bob and many others did so. In the end the regiment did not amalgamate. When the D & D's left Malta they went to Belfast Barracks, Osnabruck. Bob sadly died just after celebrating his 35th birthday.

John Parris, Devon and Dorset Regiment (Facebook) Bob was due on leave that day, I issued a travel warrant. How ever he decided to celebrate his birthday and go the next day. Unfortunately he never made it.

Until we meet at the great muster in the sky. Rest in Peace mate you will never be forgotten.
