Robert BAILEY

Robert BAILEY. Sergeant 5376, 379th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Born 1881 to Thomas Bailey. 24 April 1905 he married Annie McCormick at Albert Bridge congregational Church, East Belfast. He was full age, occupation frame maker, resided with his parents at 17 Cherryville Street, Belfast. 1911 his wife and their children were residing with her mother Maria McCormick at 64 Mount Street, Belfast. Her occupation, seamstress. Robert was not found in the 1911 census. At the time of his death his wife was residing at 13, St. Kilda Street, Ravenhill Road, Belfast. Served in the South African War. Died of wounds at 146 Field Ambulance, Palestine 25 September 1917 aged 36. His widow, Annie, was granted a war gratuity 9 February 1918, revised 21 December 1917.

Commemorated on his daughter, Winnifred May (Winnie) memorial in Plot D4. Grave 403, Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Northern Ireland.
