RINALDO SCEBERRAS MEMORIAL

Upper Barrakka Gardens, Malta

In memory of Rinaldo SCEBERRAS. Captain in H.M. 80th Regiment of Foot. Killed on the 21 December 1845 in the battle of Ferozeshah, India.

Born in 1808 in Milan, to Count Camillo Sceberras and Maddalena, nee Ravanelli. (His father arrived in Malta while serving with the French expeditionary force en route to Egypt.) He enlisted aged 18 years in 1826 as ensign by purchase into the 80th Regiment of Foot, (Staffordshire Volunteers) who were the garrison troops on the island in the 1820s
