Richard TAYLOR

Extended Description
TAYLOR Richard. Private 29795, 8th South Lancashire Regiment

Killed in action in France 14th June 1917 aged 20.
Son of William and Mary Jane of 41, Shaw Street, Newchurch.

Commemorated on a family memorial in Newchurch, churchyard, Culcheth, Lancashire and also on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium (The CWGC have Dick, and died on the 13th.)

Some notes from what remains of his army record -
Enlisted as Dick Smith on the 26th July 1916 aged 20 and was a labourer. Lived with his parents at 41, Shaw Street, Newchurch.
Embarked Southampton on the 22nd December 1916 disembarked at Harve the next day. Marched into 6th Infantry Base Depot and was posted to the 8th South Lancs on the 5th January 1917.
He was killed in action on the 13th June 1917.
