Richard Omerod (Dickie) BRADSHAW. Son of Sergeant Richard Ormerod Bradshaw of the King's Own Regiment and Emmeline, (nee O'Niel, married in Lancaster 1892). Born on the 10th December 1895 and died 27th June 1896.

Some notes from (his father's) Sergeant Bradshaw army records
He first joined up aged 18 years and 1 month at Lancaster on the 12th January 1884 and was by occupation a clerk. He was born about 1866 in Madras, India and he was the son of James who lived in London . He joined the Royal Lancaster Regiment as Private 535. On the 25th September 1895 he was promoted as Sergeant and he was working in the Orderly Room. On the 8th January 1896 he re-engaged for the Royal Lancaster Regiment for such term as shall complete 21 years service. On the 2nd February 1907 he was discharged to pension as Colour Sergeant with the 4th King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, Permanent Staff. His posting were, Malta 30th April 1896 to 24th November 1897, Hong Kong from the 25th November 1897 to 16th January 1899, Singapore from the 17th January 1899 to 26th February 1900 and returned to England on the 27th March 1900 to his discharge from the army on the 2nd February 1907. His conduct was very good and was a very good clerk, he has acted as schoolmaster for some considerable time. He was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct medals. On the 8th April 1915 he re-engaged aged 49 years and 5 months. He was still working as a clerk as a civilian which he continued to do in the army. He was living with his wife Emmeline and his family a 241 Watling Street Road, Fulwood, No rank was record for this engagement but is may have been Colour Sergeant, his army number was 20575. on the 1st November 1918 he was promoted Quarter Master Sergeant, and on the 12th February 1919 he was promoted to A/SQMS (Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant) On the 2nd April 1920 he was demobilized to his home at 241 Watling Street Road. He was married on the 12th December 1892 at Lancaster and had children, Margaret Christabel born on the 25th February 1894 at Aldershot, Eleanor, born on the 14th September 1897 in Malta and James Crank born on the 18th May 1902 at Hawkshead, Cumbria. It appears that he did not serve overseas during this period 1915-1920.
His father died in June 1960 at Amouderness, Lancashire aged 94 (C 1866)
Wills and Admin. He lived at Briarwood, Fulwood Hall Lane, Fulwood near Preston, Lancashire and died on the 6th April 1960 at Longsands Continuation Hospital Fulwood. His effects went to James Crank Bradshaw, retired schoolmaster H.M.Army and Eleanor Bradshaw, spinster.
