Richard AYRES Private 3724, 5th Gloucestershire Regiment . He was killed on a railway at Winchester while on military guard duty on the 30th July 1915 aged 51. Laid to rest on the 5th August 1915, His widow Mary Ann, (nee Jones) was granted a war gratuity on the 27th January 1916. In 1901 he was living with his wife and children at The Hill, Avening, Gloucestershire. 1911 they are now living at Star Lane, Avening, occupation, tree feller. His parents were called William and Martha and he was born at Frampton Mansell, Gloucestershire. On the 17th October 1919 their daughter, Mrs Amelia Maud Cuff was granted a war gratuity. At rest in Holy Cross Churchyard, Avening, Gloucestershire.
