RHODES, Frank, Private 170225, 305th Labour Corps, formerly Pte 45361, 23rd The Kings Liverpool Regiment died at Kinmel Park Camp. Bodelwyddan, North Wales 14th June 1917 aged 36.
Some notes from what remains of his Army record. He joined the army on the 26th November 1915 as Private 45361, The King's Liverpool Regiment aged 35. He gave his home address as 9, Corn Street, Manchester and his occupation was joiner. On the 23rd September 1908 he married Alice May Chester at St Paul's Church, Brunswick Street, Chorlton-on- Medlock, Manchester. They had one issue, Sydney, born 7th May 1911 at Manchester. His parents, James and Susan lived at 70, yew Tree Road, Withington, Manchester. At some stage he was transferred to the Labour Corps. He was admitted to the ward 8 on Kinmel Military Park Hospital on the 12th June 1917. Case history. He had for ten years suffered from Gastric Dyspepsia which got worse since joining the army. He was admitted with vomiting and peritonitis and loss of weight. He was diagnosed with having malignant disease of the stomach (Cancer). He died in ward 8 at 05.05pm on the 14th June 1917. His wife at the time of his death was living at 18, Avon Street, Chorlton-on- Medlock, Manchester. Buried at Manchester Southern Cemetery
