Reginald Alexander Forbes DOWNIE

DOWNIE Reginald Alexander Forbes, Lieutenant 1st attached to the 5th Cameron Highlanders. He fell near Sailly-Saillisel, France, "whilst fighting a severe rearguard action" on the 24th March 1918 aged 19. He was the son (one of two) of Robert Manners Downie and Elizabeth Henderson Allen Downie, of Cornbrook, Knutsford and brother of Robert who also fell. He is commemorated on a family memorial in Knutsford Cemetery, Cheshire and he is also commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France. "His grave is unknown, he is buried in the hearts of those who loved him".
