Phyllis GIBSON. S.R.N., S.C.M. Nursing Sister 223596 QAIMNSR.

Born 1912 to Andrew and Mary Ann Gibson, of Liff, Angus.
20 November 1936 trained at Royal Infirmary, Dundee. Residing at below address.
03 May 1938 registered as Midwife. Residing at Loch of Liff, Dundee.

Trained at Dundee Royal Infirmary 1933-1937

Died at sea whilst serving on a Hospital Ship Newfoundland 13 September 1943 by German aircraft. She was aged 31.

Commemorated on the Cassino Memorial, Italy, also commemorated on a family headstone in Liff Churchyard, Angus, Scotland.

Liff Nurse Believed killed at sea.
Mr and Mrs Andrew Gibson, Loch of Liff have received information that their daughter, Sister Phyllis Gibson, Queen Alexandra Imperial Military Nursing Service is reported missing, believed killed at sea.

She was educated at Harris Academy and later was a student at Dundee Art School. Did her nursing training at Dundee Royal Infirmary and for the past 15 months had been engaged as a nurse on a hospital ship.
