Died 17 June 1932. L/Cpl P. W. Francis died at the Military Hospital Mtarfa of suppurative appendicitis after a short illness. His death came as a great shock to all his friends by whom he was well liked. His funeral took place on 18 June and was attended by the whole Company. After a short service of remembrance at St Oswald Chapel, the cortege heralded by the firing party and the band of 2nd/Worcestershire Regiment proceeded to the cemetery at Mtarfa. The attendance at the funeral and the many wreaths were a sign of the great esteem in which he was held by his military and civilian acquaintances. At the conclusion of the service at the grave side, fellow members of the Buffs held a short service.
