Olof (known as Olly) Frederick GOLLCHER. Captain. Born 17 March 1889 to Elisa nee Balbi and Gustav Gollcher. Husband of Teresa Lucia (Nella) nee Prior, native of Italy, who he married in 1938 at the London Registry Office. Nella, was an officer in the Nursing Division of St. John Ambulance, later becoming an Honorary Secretary.
Died at the Blue Sisters Hospital, Sliema Malta 23 July 1962 aged 72 years.
At rest in Ta’Braxia Cemetery, Malta.
He was a well-known artist, scholar, philanthropist, as well as an ardent collector of objets d’art and historical items. He was a distinguished man who received a number of honours, including the O.B.E. (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
1914: Joined the British Army and later awarded the Medal of Montenegro. Served as 2nd Lieutenant with the Royal West Surrey Regiment in the Great War.

1936: Became a Knight of Grace of the Grand Priory of the British Realm of the Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem
1937: Received his O.B.E.
1940: Saw active service in WWII and commissioned with rank of captain
