Norman Makinson OWEN. 2nd Lieutenant 187022, 11th Lancashire Fusiliers. Son of Robert Browning Owen and Mary Ellen Owen nee Stanley, husband of Phyllis Owen nee Makinson of Haulgh, Bolton, Lancashire. In 1911 his parents were living at 7 St Annes Road, Horwich near Bolton Lancashire. Died 20th November 1941 aged 30. Died in hospital following a bomb explosion during training on the ranges.

Robert Browning Owen joined the Royal Garrison Artillery at Fort Brockhurst, Gosport 4 November 1916 aged 38 as Gunner 124318. Prior to enlistment he was a elementary school master and lived with his wife at 140 Brownlow Road Horwich Lancashire. 14 November 1916 he was transferred as gunner 302016 into the 10th Mountain Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. He embarked from Southampton 23 of August 1917 disembarked at Alexandria 12 September 1917. 3 August 1918 he embarked for Palestine with the 10th Mountain Battery. He was admitted into a field hospital (reason not recorded) 8 May 1918. 22 July 1918 he was at Base Depot, and with his unit 3 August 1918. 29 January 1919 he embarked from Port Said on Hospital Ship, Caledonia for England. In England was posted 19 February 1919 to Prees Heath Disposal Station for discharge from the army on 18 March 1919 to his home at 140 Brownlow Road.
