This Cross made in the fifteen century for the service of Guisborough Priory lost for many years is placed here by the officers of the Leeds Rifles in memory of their comrade and acting chaplain LINNHE HODGSON. Born August 18th 1882. Deacon and Priest of this church 1906 - 1909 who while on duty at the Manoeuvres near Guisborough was killed by an accidental shot, August 4th 1909. This memorial tablet is in St Peters Church (Leeds Minster) Leeds, Yorkshire. His full name was Nigel Linnhe Tylston Hodgson.
(Wills and Admin, Ancestry) Reverend Nigel Linnhe Tylston HODGSON of the Clergy House, Kirkgate, Leeds, Yorkshire, died 4th August 1909 at Guisborough, Yorkshire. His effects went to Henry Tylston Hodgson, Esquire. He was the son of Henry Tylston and Charlotte Purfoy nee Lloyd. In 1891 he was living with his parents at Harpenden Common, Harpenden, Hertfordshire. 1901 he was a boarder Harrow School, Harrow, Middlesex aged 18.

BALL CARTRIDGE. CHAPLAIN SHOT IN MANOEUVRES
MANOEUVRES. During brigade manoeuvres by Territorials in the Giuisborough district on Wednesday, the Rev. Nigel Hodgson was shot dead. Mr. Hodgson, who was only years of age, was curate of Leeds Parish Church, and was in the camp acting chaplain for the Leeds Rifles.
This memorial tablet is in St Peters Church (Leeds Minster) Leeds, Yorkshire.
