When the Italian king surrendered to the Allies, Italian military in Albania had to further reason to stay there. They made an agreement with Albanian partisans that they would simply abandon their equipment if allowed to leave in peace. Five divisions worth of Italian weapons and equipment was then distributed among various partisan groups throughout the Balkans.
