Son of Charles and Ellen Beal husband of Elizabeth Beal, of Canning Town, Essex. At rest in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel and Palestine (including Gaza).
ARMSTEAD, Walter Edward Peter. 2nd Engineers Officer Motor Vessel, (Tanker). Tricula (London) Merchant Navy died on the 3rd August 1942 aged 32. The tanker was torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic Ocean 250 nautical miles (460 km) north east of Trinidad (11°35′N 56°51′W) by U-108 ( Kriegsmarine) with the loss of 47 of her 58 crew. Survivors were rescued by Rio San Juan Argentina. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London.
