Description:
Private Michael James DURKIN No. 202803 2nd South Lancashire Regiment.
Killed in action, France, 14 June 1917 aged 34.

Born 1883 at Glenduff, County Mayo, resided at Stoke on Trent. Married 25 October 1916 at Cheadle Staffordshire to Alice Ann James. Home address 82 Leek Road, Cheadle, Staffordshire. He was commemorated on a separate memorial on this grave on the 11 April 2005.

Commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.


N.B. I have recorded most of the memorial inscriptions in this cemetery. On this grave there was a separate memorial which gave the information about Michael Durkin. On my visit to this grave on the 22 November 2017 I noted that the memorial was missing.
