Melvin James SIMPSON

Extended Description
Private 24244664 Melvin James SIMPSON Ex 2 UDR. Shot dead by the PIRA while working at a building site in Ann Street, Dungannon, Co Tyrone on the 8th October 1984. At rest St James churchyard, cemetery, Moy, County Tyrone aged 40.
He is commemorated on a tree memorial plaque as 24421786 Pte R Simpson 08 October 1984 which is part incorrect at the UDR Memorial, Ulster Ash Grove, National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas Staffordshire.
The army number belonged to Robert Irwin Ex Pte then RUCR who was killed 16 November 1982 whilst on duty.
