This memorial seat is at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire and is dedicated to Margaret Moreland AINSWORTH Queen Alexandras Royal Army Nursing Corps. 1910 - 2003.


AINSWORTH Margaret Moreland. Nursing Sister 209691 Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps. She was born on the 6th March 1910 to Corporal, Shoeing Smith, 4th Dragoon Guards and Jeannie Wylie nee Gray. In 1911 they were living in army married quarters on Preston Military Barracks, Lewes Road, Preston, Brighton Garrison. On the 22nd April 1944 she returned from Calabar, Nigeria and disembarked at Liverpool of ship, S.S. Amstelkerk aged 34 , her rank, Nursing Sister. She gave her home address as Forge House, Swanbrook, Horam, Sussex. The ship was carrying H.M.Forces. she departed our shores again on the 30th November 1954 from London on ship, Strathmore bound for Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She was a Nurse aged 44 and she had left St Margaret's Hospital, Epping.

TERRITORIAL ARMY NURSING SERVICE. Sister M. M. AINSWORTH (209691) relinquishes her commisson, on account of disability, 5th Apr. 1947.
She died on the 4th May 2003 in the Registration District of Dudley.
