Madeline Mary MOSS. Wife of Vincent Newton MOSS, late Captain, The Buffs. (East Kent Regiment) She died in Malta 6th October 1921 aged 31. At rest in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Malta.

Vincent Newton MOSS Born 11th May 1895 and died in August 1984 aged 89 in Hastings. He was the son of Isaac Newton and Ada Sophia. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at 16, Tyndale Park, Herne Bay, Kent, aged 15 and training to be an architect.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Finding during a relief that strong parties of the enemy with machine guns were still in possession of a large part of the village, he immediately led his company
forward, and with the help of two Tanks cleared the enemy from the position, capturing about twenty prisoners and a large quantity of stores and war material.
Another version.
Captain Vincent Newton, MOSS. 1st East Kent Regiment. Near Hulluck 24th/25th June 1917. During a raid he led his party into the enemy support line. Where he remained three hours reorganising them after heavy casualties. Although wounded he personally supervised the repulse of a bomb attack and remained to the last finally withdrawing his party without further loss. In 1952 he was residing in the Wilton Hotel, Grosvenor Gardens, Saint Leonards.
