The LANEs on this memorial are brothers.

William Charles LANE was the first child of Charles Frederick LANE and his wife Hannah. He died on 21st April 1916 whilst serving as Private 23679 in the 7th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. Like his brother Alderman he has no known grave, he is commemorated on the Basra memorial in Iraq (which has been moved).

Alderman Justice, named after his father's brother (1856-1879), was their second son. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial, Ypres.

Their sister Daisy Elizabeth married into our BEACHAM cousins.
