My Great grandfather Alfred Triggs. London Labour Corps. He fought at Ladysmith in the Boer War and took five bullets in the back. Recorded on the1901 census as wounded soldier.He volunteered for the first world war as he was not fit for active service. His main job was recovering the bodies of the fallen so they could bee given a proper burial.
