- Joseph SEMPLE. Private 17935, 9th Royal Irish Fusiliers
Born 26 December 1896 at Trevor Street, Holywood to Joseph and Margaret (Maggie) Ellen Jane Semple, nee Cuthbert. At time of his death parents resided at Sullivan Place, Holywood, Co. Down.
Killed in action at the battle of the Somme 1 July 1916 aged 19.
Commemorated on his parents’ headstone in Holywood Cemetery, Holywood, County Down,
also on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
