- Master Gunner (M Gnr) Joseph Francis DOWSING No. 1268822 Royal Air Force stationed at RAF Shewbury, Shropshire.
Born 27 July 1922
Died 28 June 1959 aged 36.
He was a master gunner on Lancaster bombers and was shot down over Poland, taken Prisoner of War for about 18 months. He was put into Stalag Luft 6 at Heydekrug, Lithuania. His prisoner number was L6.
Wills and Admin Ancestry. Joseph Francis DOWSING of Sergeants Mess RAF Station Shawbury, Shropshire who was last seen alive on the 28 June 1959 and whose body was found on the 29 June 1959. His effects went to his widow, Margaret Florence, nee Hughes.
