Son of John William and Sylvia C S Whitehead of Middlewich, Cheshire.

Born 21 December 1902 at Middlewich, enlisted 15 October 1918 as Boy Class II, J93165, Royal Navy on HMS Impregnable. He died as Signalman in Hong Kong Hospital 21 February 1926 from Arsenical dermatitis and Progress asthenia (Arsenic poisoning). His mother was informed of his death 22 February 1926.
At rest at the British Naval Cemetery, Hong Kong, China.
