- John Percival (Percy) SMEDLEY. Stoker 2nd Class K6286 Royal Navy on HMS Bacchante. Born 15th January 1891 at Walthamstow, Essex (DoB taken from Naval Record) Baptised 22nd July 1892 at St Stephens, Canonbury Road, Islington, parents Percy and Susan Emily Smedley, nee Alexander. In 1901 he was living with his parents at Dorer Buildings, Kent Road, Southwark, London. Enlisted 2nd April 1910, occupation prior to enlistment, Royal Marine CH/16138. Died 29th October 1910 aged 19 at the Royal Naval Hospital, Malta of acute nephritis. His father was informed of his death 31st October 1910. At rest in Plot B Grave 195, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
