Extended Description
Sergeant 24280761 John LYNESS. Aged 57. Ex UDR. He was shot outside his home, Lime Grove, Lurgan, County Armagh by the IRA on the 24th June 1993. Despite seeing his killers approach after he parked his car and drawing his personal protection weapon the two gunmen shot first. He had left the UDR only a year before having served for 20 years and was working for the local council.
In 1993 Colin Duffy was charged with the murder and convicted only to be freed on appeal. Duffy\'s solicitor, Rosemary Nelson , was killed by loyalists in 1999.
