SLEIGHTHOLM John Ernest died 14th April 1903 aged 1 day. Son of Staff-Sergeant 420 Ernest Sleightholm, Royal Engineers, foreman of works and Florence, nee Briston.

Staff Sergeant Ernest Sleightholm joined the Royal Engineers on the 26th September 1896 aged 24 years, occupation, plumber and sanitary engineer. He had previously served with the 1st East Yorkshire Artillery Volunteers. On the 22nd September 1900 he married Florence Briston at Gillingham, Kent. Listed in his army records are the following children. Honor Phyllis born 17th July 1901 at New Brompton, Kent and Zoe Florence born 26th January 1906 at Dover and died 14th December 1908. They had another child who only lived for 1 day and that was John Ernest. He is not mentioned. All his overseas postings were to Malta, returning to England at the end of his period. His first posting was frm the 14th January 1902 to 29th July 1903 and his last was from the 20th March 1913 to 29th March 1915. He was discharged from the army after completing 23 years and 251 days on the 2nd June 1920.
