John Edward GLAVES

Extended Description
John Edward GLAVES. Marconi Operator, Mercantile Marine, Lost his life on H.M.H.S.S. Salta, near Le Havre 10th April 1917, aged 18. Eldest son of John Edward and Mary Ann of Easingwold, previously 2 Valley Road, Harrogate, Yorkshire, Also served eight months in "C" Sqdn. Yorkshire Hussars before qualifying for the Wireless Service. His brother of John fell in 1942. Commemorated on his parents memorial in St John the Baptist and All Saints Churchyard, Easingwold, Yorkshire, at rest in Ste Marie Cemetery, Le Havre, France.
He joined up on the 8th August 1915 aged 19 and 5 months, lived at 2 Valley Road. Posted as private 3239, Yorkshire Hussars. He was discharged on the 26th November 1915 under Para 392(VI) King's Regulations. His father, John Edward was his next of kin and he lived at 2 Valley Road Harrogate.
