Born 8 May 1868 at High Street, Holywood, County Down to James and Mary Shannon, nee Robinson.
19 October 1892 married Clara Dunn Sparling at parish church of All Hallows, Leeds, West Riding, Yorkshire.
1901 residing with his wife and children at 49 Ruth Street, Belfast, occupation, mariner.
1911 with his wife and children at 2 Upway Villas, Newton Road, Bittern Park, Southampton, Hampshire, occupation sailor.
7 March 1912 he embarked aged 43, occupation, farmer from Southampton with his wife, Clara and family bound for Portland Maine on ship Ausonia.

Capt John C B Shannon. Well known in British Columbia for twenty-five years.
He died on Thursday at his old home in Holywood Ireland where he was visiting with Mrs (Clara) Shannon. He was aged 69.
He came to B.C. in 1912 and was an active figure in the fishing industry for many years. During the war he served in the British Navy and for many years previously he was employed by the late George Herbert Brown, president of the Royal Ulster Works of Ireland as captain of one of the finest yachts of the British Isles. Besides his wife he leaves five son, three daughters and sixteen grandchildren.
Died in Holywood 26 August 1937 aged 69.
At rest in Holywood Cemetery, Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland.
